If you like games that are not entirely conventional there’s a good chance you’ve already heard of Qrth-phyl. It’s the latest output from Hermit Games – a Cornish-based studio staffed entirely by a man called Matt James. It resembles a version of prehistoric phone device classic Snake if Snake had been double-dipped in electronic cocktail and rebooted as, well, this…
Hermit Games’ previous excursion – the beautifully hypnotic shooter Leave Home – is one of those diamond-in-the-rough Xbox Live Indie Game rarities constructed with an extraordinary talent for game design. Audio, visual, mechanics – it’s the whole package. And, certainly in terms of aesthetics, Qrth-phyl looks every bit as accomplished and distinctive as its predecessor.

Qrth-phyl is out soon for Xbox Live Indie Games and PC (and Leave Home is out now on XBLIG for 80 Microsoft Points, which is 69p, which is a stupid price for a game of such stellar quality).
