The usually reliable Jodie Whittaker missteps with this creaky British psychodrama, in which she plays Mia, a damaged soul who literally gets the chance to dip into her past via a lift that takes her back in time.
There she gets to watch her younger self with abusive former lover Ludwig (Dougray Scott), a trumpet-playing clown (go figure), and earlier still, alongside her unreliable mother Doris (Emilia Fox).
Director Dana Lustig strains for poetic meaning but comes up empty-handed. Unless, that is, you happen to like cod-Freudian naval-gazing.
