You can now sign up to beta test the next PS4 firmware update

Looks like that big PS4 update that was rumoured (opens in new tab) a while back could be on the way fairly soon, as Sony are asking for beta testers to sign up (opens in new tab).

Previously, a PS4 survey seemed to suggest a range of features like being able to change your PSN ID or have a Store wish list could be on the way. Or were at least something Sony were considering.

Some of these we’ve already got, like PS2 Classics, but there’s still a lot there we’ve not seen since. The beta will kick off (opens in new tab) in early March so we should have a good idea of what’s coming then. If you sign up (using that link up top) then you’ll get a mail with instructions to download the new system software, with the comforting reminder that you can roll back to the normal update at any time. One word of warning though – you’ll need a master account to get involved.
