Total Film joins the BAFTA jury

Total Film has once more joined up with Orange and BAFTA for The Orange Wednesdays Rising Star Award, designed to recognize a fresh face destined for fame, fortune and fulsome critical plaudits.

The OWRSA is the only BAFTA decided by you, the paying public.

Total Film has already taken its seat alongside fellow jurors Simon Pegg, Sienna Miller, Harry Potter supremo David Yates and various other industry bigwigs to argue 20 candidates down to a fistful of names.

These will be announced on January 11, ready for your vote.

The OWRSA will be then awarded to the chosen candidate at the BAFTA ceremony on 12 February 2012.

Jury Chair Pippa Harris says, “I’m thrilled that so many talented Industry colleagues have made the time to take part in this year’s Orange Wednesday’s Rising Star jury. The jury’s wealth of experience is a testament to how highly regarded this award is, and will ensure that the list of nominees represent the real stars of tomorrow.”

Simon Pegg says, “Joining the jury for the award was such an exciting prospect as it means you get to watch so many brilliant films and performances in the name of research. The award has a great track record for celebrating actors that really strike a chord with cinema goers, and with such great up and coming talent out there at the minute, I think they’re going to be spoilt for choice.”

Last year’s OWRSA winner was Tom Hardy, recognized at the very moment he catapulted onto the A-list, and previous winners include James McAvoy, Eva Green and Shia LaBeouf.
