Patricia Arquette gives animation a go with Toy Story 4

With Toy Story 3 completing the trilogy on such a sweet note, there was more than a little doubt surrounding Toy Story 4 when it was announced this summer. The information we’ve gotten since then indicates that Disney and Pixar do in fact know what they’re doing (opens in new tab) (shocker) and more evidence of that fact has come to light.

The Wrap (opens in new tab) is reporting that recent Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette will be joining the voice cast of the animated sequel. The actress – who is currently starring on CSI: Cyber – will be portraying a hippy mother in a script penned by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. Arquette will join returning cast members Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, and John Lasseter will be calling the shots.

This isn’t the first time Arquette has expressed an interest in doing an animated film; she’s also set to voice a witch in the upcoming 3D animated film TROLL: The Rise Of Harry Potter, Jr (nothing to do with J.K. Rowling’s teen wizard). After her stunning performance as a mother in last year’s Boyhood, it will be interesting to hear what Arquette brings to the table in the animated realm.

Directed by Lasseter and starring Hanks, Allen and Arquette, Toy Story 4 will be released is US theatres on June 15 2018 and UK cinemas on July 13 2018.
