Celebrate the launch of Solaris ‘s paperback edition of Osama , the much-talked-about alt-reality book by Lavie Tidar at a free event at Foyles (opens in new tab) this Thursday.
The Israel-born writer will be in conversation with author Sophia McDougall to discuss how the figure of Bin Laden has shifted our perspective on the world and how fiction can respond to it. This free event is on the third floor of Foyles on Charing Cross Road in London (WC2H 0EB), this Thursday 4 October from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Although it’s free you need to reserve your place by emailing events@foyles.co.uk .
From the blurb: ” Osama is a stunning response to the horrors of 9/11 … It provides fresh insight into this world-changing event in a way that fiction has struggled to achieve, and the critical response to this book has been nothing short of stunning.” The paperback costs £7.99 and SFX awarded it four and a half stars when it first hit in hardback (issue 215). You can read an interview with Tidhar in SFX 219. Tidhar is also writing for SFX issue 228, a piece about CL Moore’s Black Gods And Scarlet Dreams for our Book Club .
