No More Heroes coming to smartphones

Travis Touchdown and his beam katana of pure awesomeness will soon be slicing up smartphones. Yesterday, Marvelous AQL confirmed Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51) is in works to bring his over-the-top otaku action game to iOS and Android platforms, and will hit Japan via DeNA and Mobage devices.

The announcement came with two new screens from the upcoming port. They hint at how the touch screen controls will work, and how the portable edition won’t stray too far from the console versions, either in terms of gameplay or graphics:

The mobile No More Heroes titles was revealed during Marvelous AQL press conference, during which Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune announced he was also developing a game called JJ Rockets for smartphones, along with a new pirate RPG for the 3DS called Kaio: King of Pirates.

There’s been no confirmation that any of these games will make their way out West, but considering Travis’ cult fanbase in North America and Europe, it’s more than likely we’ll get our oily thumbs on this new iteration one way or another.
