There were many clues leading up to this moment. Like the fact that there’s been a Battlefield game at least every two years since 2002. Or that EA already explicitly told us about a new Battlefield game arriving for holiday 2016 (opens in new tab). But look! DICE’s development director has made it official – a new Battlefield game is being made right now in a Sweden near you.

It’s worth remembering that EA CEO, Andrew Wilson described this as a “new Battlefield experience”. Now that could be regular business-speak to mean “a new game” – but given Battlefield’s mutability over the years, it’s feasible that we’ll see another left turn in 2016. Battlefield: 1066 – HoloLens Edition, anyone?
