Destinys Year 2 update is out now, and its massive

Dinklebot is dead, long live Nolandroid. Bungie has released Destiny (opens in new tab)’s giant Year 2 Update across all platforms, and if you want to see all its fundamental changes firsthand, you’d better get downloading now – it’s 18 GB on PS4 and Xbox One, and 10 GB on Xbox 360 and PS3 (don’t forget to leave some wiggle room for extracting the update on PS3).

Aside from swapping out the voice actor of your ever-present Ghost companion (opens in new tab), the 2.0 update makes many more changes: an all-new leveling system (opens in new tab) that replaces the old Light grind, reworked weapon mechanics, and more universal currency systems, among others. Check Bungie (opens in new tab)’s official patch notes for the whole list.

And those are just tweaks to the Destiny you already knew – The Taken King expansion will arrive on September 15 with new story missions, Crucible maps (opens in new tab), and the King’s Fall Raid coming that same weekend (opens in new tab). If you’re a lapsed Guardian (like myself), this is the best time to climb back on your Sparrow yet.
