Call of Duty: Warzone Verdansk map has been nuked in live event

The Call of Duty: Warzone Verdasnk map has been destroyed during an end-of-season event that saw a nuclear bomb dropped on the battle royale’s fictional city.

The live event saw players head into Verdansk, but instead of fighting for a win, they tried to survive for as long as possible, with players who were killed turning into zombies that overran the map. This lead to the bombs being dropped on Verdansk in a climatic cinematic, finally giving us the Call of Duty: Warzone nuke event we’ve been waiting for.

After this event finished, players have been only able to play matches on a nighttime version of Rebirth Island, which also has a new building in the form of the Command Centre. With Verdansk seemingly gone for good, players won’t have to wait too long to see what’s replacing it, as there’s a countdown in the game’s menu for 12pm PT / 3pm ET / 8pm BST April 22.

It feels like a safe bet to say that Warzone Season 3 looks set to kick off properly at this time, even if it’s unclear what that means for Verdansk. However, Black Ops: Cold War Season 3 details were revealed earlier this week, giving us a look at the file size that this new update weighs in at, as well as new operators we can expect to see in Treyarch’s shooter alongside new multiplayer maps and the return of the Sticks and Stones mode

If you want to catch up with the Call of Duty: Warzone event, we’ve livestreamed it over at GamesRadar’s official YouTube channel, which you can also watch below.
