Fans of Assassin’s Creed and depth have a reason to rejoice today. Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be playable in 3D on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, marking the first time the series has made the jump into the third-dimension, and giving you yet another reason to bite the bullet and upgrade to a new, awesome 3D TV. Come on, it’s time.
Seriously. Assassin’s Creed in 3D. Yeah.
As is the case with most 3D content, you’ll need to own some 3D stuff to get the full 3D experience. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will use TriOviz Inficolor 3D, and support all 3DTVs using top/bottom, side-by-side, and frame packing via HDMI 1.4. In other words, if you have a 3D TV, odds are you can play Revelations in 3D on consoles. PC gamers will need to use NVIDIA’s 3D Vision, meaning they need a 3D display as well as a graphics card that supports it, but odds are they already knew that.
Above: Please put on your 3D glasses.
With games like Gears of War 3, Resistance 3, Batman: Arkham City, and, now, Assassin’s Creed coming out in 3D, owners of 3D-capable hardware are having quite the holiday season. If this trend continues it won’t be long until we’re all upgrading to 3D and wearing 3D glasses over our regular glasses. That is, until glasses-less 3D TVs take over and then we all need to upgrade again. Don’t you love technology?!
