Amazons German site lists Wii U release date, price estimate

While still far from a confirmation, today brings us a little bit closer to the final release date and price for the Nintendo Wii U. Both of which have been rampantly speculated about over the past few months.

Amazon’s German site (opens in new tab) put up a listing for the console today with a November 21st launch date, accompanied by a €399 price point, which for us Yanks comes to about $499.

GameSpot (opens in new tab) notes that the Nintendo Wii did not launch at equal exchange rates across the world though. It launched at €250 as well as $250. Amazon.de also notes that the price is an estimate, and is subject to change.

Their estimate is intriguing though, as it flies in the face of analysts who have said that Nintendo must bring the Wii U under $300 if they want to replicate the success they saw last generation. Maybe Amazon has some information that those analysts don’t? Or perhaps Nintendo will try to defy the odds and launch at a high, $350+ price. As of now, this is all speculation, but sometimes speculation can be fun.

If we receive any word regarding the official price point of the Wii U we will of course pass that along to you as quickly as possible.
