Alfred Hitchcocks Suspicion to get the remake treatment

While a new adaptation of Rebecca is currently in the works over at Working Title, Alfred Hitchcock’s Suspicion is also set for the reboot treatment courtesy of The Killing executive producer Veena Sud.

Released in 1941, Hitchcock’s Suspicion was based on the novel Before The Fact by Francis Illes, and followed a wealthy woman’s marriage to a man who turns out to be a crook, liar and murderer.

Hitchcock’s film starred Joan Fontaine and Cary Grant, and the former received an Oscar for her performance.

Suspicion marks the feature debut of Veena Sud, who’s previously made her name working on TV crime dramas like Cold Case and The Killing .

It’s unclear yet whether Sud will return to Illes novel for her movie, or if she’ll base it on Hitchcock’s renowned classic.

Either way, the premise is an intriguing one, and if Sud can imbue it with half the brilliance of The Killing , she’ll have something pretty good on her hands.
