Psychonauts now available on PS4, despite conflicting messages from Sony

Psychonauts, the cult favourite action adventure game about a camp for psychically-gifted youngsters from noted funny guy Tim Schafer, is now available on PS4. But you might want to hurry if you’re gonna grab it, because there’s a mistake being made somewhere in Sony’s pipes.

See, the game is currently available to purchase in the PlayStation Store (opens in new tab), but according to the PlayStation Blog (opens in new tab), it shouldn’t be. When the PS Blog posted its weekly PS Store update, it listed Psychonauts with a release date of June 7 – today. However, the post was soon amended, and currently reads, “Psychonauts is coming out soon, but not this week. Apologies for the error. Stay tuned for final timing!”

So either someone set the game live early, or someone got the date wrong. Or rather, they had the date right the first time, and got it wrong after the fact. Oh well, the game is excellent and you can play it, and that’s what really matters. It’ll also be good to prepare for the crowdfunded Psychonauts 2 (opens in new tab) and PlayStation VR exclusive spin-off, Psychonauts: In the Rhombus of Ruin (opens in new tab).
