Halo 5 Infinitys Armory update welcomes back the Halo 2 Battle Rifle

Hopefully you’re finished exploring the free updates Halo 5 has received post-launch (opens in new tab), because the next update, dubbed “Infinity’s Armory,” drops later this month, and it’s got a lot to share with you.

Infinity’s Armory (opens in new tab) comes with three new armors: the Atlas set, the Achilles set, and the Mark V Alpha set. The last of the three will be a blessing for any machinima artists out there wanting to take things back to 2001, as the Mark V armor is modeled after Master Chief’s appearance in the original Halo: Combat Evolved.

That’s not the only throwback, though. Infinity’s Armory also brings back the Halo 2 version of the Battle Rifle. It’s clear from the video that it at least looks different from its more modern counterpart, but I’m gonna require some field testing to figure out if there have been any changes made to damage and firing rate.

There are also two new maps, Riptide and Urban. Riptide is a smaller map designed for Arena mode, and 343 calls it “a new take” on an existing map, Fathom. Urban is likewise a twist on the currently existing Warzone map, Battle of Noctus.

Lastly, there’s an assortment of emblems, weapon skins, and balance tweaks to sort through. 343 seems to be having a bit more fun with this update, as there are more goofy aesthetics on display than before. But then, you might not think pepperoni pizza is so silly when it’s covering the gun that earned you a victory.
