Justin Lin in talks to direct True Detective season 2

Justin Lin could be about to make the jump from action extravaganza to small-screen thriller, with THR reporting that he is in talks to join the second season of True Detective .

According to the report, HBO has contacted Lin to direct the first two episodes of the new series, with other directors to be approached to look after the rest of the season.

It’s a move that marks a departure from the first season, all eight episodes of which were directed by Cary Fukunaga, resulting in a consistent tone and visual aesthetic throughout the show’s run.

Just how many other directors are likely to be approached remains to be seen, but it certainly seems as though Lin has been offered the opening two episodes, and those alone.

Vince Vaughn and Taylor Kitsch are rumoured to be taking the leading roles in the new series, while Colin Farrell has also been linked to the show, which is expected to air in the US during summer 2015.
