Horizon Forbidden West 1.08 patch stops Aloy from breathing so loudly during cutscenes

A new Horizon Forbidden West patch has fixed an issue where Aloy could be heard breathing during a certain quest’s cutscenes.

Announced by developer Guerrilla in the Horizon subreddit (opens in new tab), the recently-released follow-up to Horizon Zero Dawn has received a number of fixes and improvements in the form of a new 1.08 patch. There’s been a lot of small tweaks throughout the game, so if you want to get a full list, we will include the Reddit post below.

Of course, if you haven’t finished your adventure into the Forbidden West yet, we suggest you take care when reading further as some of the patch notes contain minor Horizon Forbidden West spoilers. Now that’s been said, here are some of the more interesting notes in the update post.

One of the ‘Main Quest’ fixes in the patch notes includes an issue some players were experiencing where during the ‘Thebes’ quest, Aloy could be heard breathing whilst cutscenes were playing. Depending on the cutscene, this could come across as creepy, hilarious, or just inappropriate. So it’s a good thing this has been patched out of the game now.

Another main quest issue that’s been resolved in this update was affecting the ‘All That Remains’ quest which caused Aloy to spawn in the Base and left players unable to leave. Speaking of limiting players, some fans reported instances during ‘The Dying Lands’ main quest where Varl and Zo would sometimes remain idle outside of Plainsong and block any progression. This has also now been fixed.

A potentially noticeable change made to Horizon Forbidden West in the latest update is: “Several improvements to the NPCs’ movement and animations in settlements.” So next time you’re taking five or topping up on supplies in a settlement, take a look around and see if you notice any new reactions from the NPCs there.

Some good news for those trying to get that Platinum trophy, Guerrilla has also fixed an issue that was causing some players to easily miss the ‘All Machine Types Scanned’ trophy during the final main quest ‘Singularity.’
