Max Borenstein has been talking about Legendary’s forthcoming sequel to Godzilla, confirming that he is returning to write the script and promising that round two will be “bigger and better” than the first outing.
“I’m doing it,” confirmed Borenstein to Collider (opens in new tab). “I’m writing it now, and it’s really going to be great. I don’t want to go off book and tell you anything that I’m not allowed to tell you. The response to the first film was really exciting, but now that that world is established, we can do bigger and even better things. We’re really stoked.”
Borenstein also went on to confirm that he will be collaborating with Gareth Edwards while writing the script, albeit allowing for the time constraints imposed by the director’s work on Star Wars: Rogue One. Edwards’ return behind the camera was also recently confirmed by the studio.
The film is currently pencilled in for a June 8 2018 release, and it has previously been suggested that classic monsters Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah will appear. Borenstein stopped short of confirming that, but he’s got to keep some surprises up his sleeve now, hasn’t he…
