Dishonored, Assassins Creed 3, others hitting PSN day-and-date with retail

PlayStation 3 gamers have one less excuse to leave the couch next month, with Sony’s Day 1 Digital program bringing eight high-profile October releases including Resident Evil 6, Dishonored, and Assassin’s Creed III to PlayStation Network as soon as they hit retail. Sony announced the new program today, which also includes discounts for PlayStation Plus members on select titles.

NBA 2K13, Dishonored, Doom 3: BFG Edition, 007 Legends, and Need for Speed: Most Wanted will all be priced 10 percent off for a limited time for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Resident Evil 6, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, and Assassin’s Creed III will also drop day-and-date with their retail versions without discounts.

Sony did not stipulate whether the program will extend outside of October and the eight announced games. The company does seem to be gaining momentum for making all major releases simultaneously available on PSN, as it had similar news last week for the PS3 and PS Vita versions of Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.
