Damon Lindelof has signed a deal to script a large-scale sci-fi movie, based on an original idea, for Disney.
According to a report by Deadline, he has signed a seven-figure deal with the studio to write and produce the feature, which is currently lurking under the inconspicuous working title 1952 .
Lindelof is best know for his work on TV show Lost , which he exec-produced as well as helping to create and script.
He has since been the go-to guy for high-profile sci-fi projects, producing JJ Abrams’ Star Trek , co-writing and producing Cowboys & Aliens , and rewriting Ridley Scott’s Prometheus .
1952 is attempting to capture a wide-reaching family audience, and Disney has “multiple platform aspirations” for the project – so expect tie-in apps, video games, books and more.
There’s currently no word on release dates or possible directors.
