The first image of the Suicide Squad ensemble has appeared online, and it’s just about as starry a line-up as you could hope to see. Director David Ayer tweeted the image earlier today, as twelve of the film’s key players gathered with the director for a read-through of the script.
Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Viola Davis and Cara Dealvingne are all present and correct, although one notable absentee is Jared Leto. Could that be because Ayer is hoping to keep his physical transformation into the Joker under wraps? We shall see…

The image also includes a couple of new faces, including Jim Parrack and Adam Beach, as well as comedian Ike Barinholtz. There’s been no official confirmation as to who they will be playing, although Latino Review has suggested that the latter may be Dr. Hugo Strange.
Directed by Ayer, Suicide Squad will open in the UK and US on 5 August 2016, with production set to get underway in Toronto this month.
