Check out 30 minutes of Assassins Creed Origins on Xbox One X in beautiful 4K

Assassin’s Creed is different now. Combat has changed. There are quests instead of a map filled with icon vomit. You have a hawk, and it’s your bud. Hell, there aren’t even towers anymore, allowing for a far more open and fluid gameplay experience. And we got a chance to play Assassin’s Creed Origins (opens in new tab) on Xbox One X in 4K.

You’ll immediately notice how vivid the sand-swept deserts of Egypt look, and we transition seamlessly from horseback to sailing within few minutes (where we get attacked by a dang crocodile). We also get involved in a skirmish between two warring factions, go swimming, infiltrate a village to rescue a Greek landowner, and fight a hulking brute in an arena pit filled with spinning spike traps. You can watch the full video above for nearly a half-hour of raw gameplay footage, read our full hands-on impressions (opens in new tab), or you can head on over here to get a quick video rundown (opens in new tab) of everything that’s changed from our hands-on experience.

Make sure you check out our full E3 2017 schedule (opens in new tab) to stay tuned for all the details as they arrive, and check out our roundup of all the E3 2017 trailers (opens in new tab).
