Game of Thrones season 8 may turn out to be the shortest yet in terms of episode count, but there could be a lot to those episodes. Series sound designer Paula Fairfield revealed at Con of Thrones (a fan convention held last weekend in Nashville, Tennessee) that the show’s producers are considering ‘feature-length’ shows for all 6 episodes. She also revealed the runtime for the Game of Thrones season 7 (opens in new tab) finale.

David Chen (who hosted a different panel celebrating the still-alive actors (opens in new tab) of the show’s many dead characters) shared the following from the convention.

Feature-length implies at least an hour and a half for each episode. With six such episodes, that would equal 9 hours worth of runtime – so about a regular season, then, just with fewer breaks. Fairfield did say that the team is just considering feature-length runtimes, so these plans could still change.
